A Fractal Alchemist is a tool that allows you to create your own fractal Worlds within the mathematical Universe.
Explore the beauties that are hidden inside mathematical formulas. Welcome to the new art of the 21st century!

To fractal fans everywhere mystified by the unearthly beauty of these mathematical wonders San Base has created this program, Fractal Alchemist that literally gives you the building blocks for how these amazing worlds are created.

There is no way to create 3D fractal worlds of your own free will - these worlds are already contained in the formulas, i.e. exist since the creation of the Universe.

The Fractal Alchemist simply gives you a tool for exploring this mathematical Universe, which is no less real than our physical universe.
You arrive in this fanciful laboratory and can quickly and easily begin changing the construction of fractals by simply moving and stacking blocks of 'code' with no experience or understanding of high-end mathematical functions.

FRACTAL  ALCHEMIST

It is rare in the panorama of available apps for Virtual Reality headsets that a program comes along that truly plunges you into an alternative Universe. A lot of applications miss utilizing the unique strengths of what VR has to offer the user experience. Fractal Alchemist does two things extremely well; it does what computers are best at, calculating numbers and second, the app uses those calculations to render some of the most exquisite 3D 360 art that you will have ever seen!

There is a special magic here in this program. Right from the start, you realize that with little, if any knowledge of higher mathematics you are playing with complex blocks of code and creating amazing inter-dimensional fractals. Some are so beautifully and naturally formed that they are sure to envelop and immerse you in their unique wonder and awe. This is virtual reality on steroids.

The interface is extremely inuitive with easy access to all functions laid out on a single table. It is recommended that you open the Sample Book first, hover a wand ray over any image to catch a preview and then Upload one that appeals to you. At this point, all bets are off as you can then plug into any of the blocks and dive right into a full 360 world by simply clicking the preview screen image!

Once you are inside the Fractal world, the exploration truly begins, and oh what wonders for the eyes you will see. Think of yourself as being deep inside a multi-storied cube of eXtreme art, able to explore in all directions you look with the joysticks. Keep in mind what other discoveries are to be found looking and moving up or down one level at a time. Things really start to get interesting as you realize how vast your explorations can be in a single session.

One click of the trigger while inside one of these marvellous worlds and you will gain access to a range of personal settings from configuring the resolution (anywhere from 4K to 16K) to taking incredible 3D 360 photos of your favourite spots. You can also set the music volume, Parallax and what information you want to save in your photos. Keep in mind that slower computers should probably stay in 4K mode when moving about, however, that does not stop you from finding an area of interest and simply switching to 8K or even 16K to take a super-high-resolution photo. It can also be easier on the eyes to wait a few seconds before moving whenever the fractal environment updates to these higher resolutions. Thankfully, it is still possible to render beautiful high-resolution images in seconds without a super-computer.

The Alchemist Lab area is perhaps the most entertaining, in the way it imaginatively lays out the tools you have to work with. The very idea that simply playing with blocks of coded fragments of fractal math can lead to such original worlds is a mind-boggling innovation for the inner artist in anyone. The playful and occasional random typewritten 'words of wisdom' slanted towards Murphy's Law almost always creates a strange often comical and synchronistic commentary on your workflow. The magical way the formula blocks jump into a remix animation with each change you make totally gives you that instant feedback and expectation that something may radically have changed your results. Don't be surprised if such changes send you off on yet another tangental exploration, down a rabbit hole you may not have planned to fall into!

I certainly recommend Saving regularly even if you end up, like me, with lots of Flasks of favourite recipes. There is plenty of time later to dispose of some by dragging them into the cool bunsen burner but be careful, in this infinite laboratory of experiments, you may never see the same thing again. The features and individual block configurations are astoundingly varied and powerful, from the many ways blocks can be arranged to the incredible way the colour palette system presents a myriad of mood changes in the resulting fractal. Do not overlook the tiny pyramid on the table for some interesting post-processing.

You are the alchemist explorer, have no fear of the tools at hand, you will thank yourself for staying with a formula as you alter its matrix into surprising results. Remember too, SanBase provides a wide variety of starter recipes in his Samples Book, not to mention that you can always return to previous sessions through your own Photo Book of saved images.

All in all, you are going to have a lot of fun here and because the resulting, saved imagery includes true 3D 360 Photospheres, you may even find imaginative ways to incorporate them into personal VR projects from time to time. Who knows the future? but I think it is safe to say that Fractal Alchemist certainly helps define a whole new genre of Virtual Reality like no other program I have experienced to date.
